Originally established in 1835 under the patronage of the Marquess of Exeter, the Society was re-invented several times over the years, with the latest incarnation inspired by the Stamford Charter Quincentenary celebrations in 1961.
Our aims …..
- To encourage and foster an interest in all types of gardening.
- To provide opportunities for individuals to meet other gardeners in order to share their mutual interest in gardening.
- To encourage youngsters to participate in gardening activities.
- To offer a range of horticultural based social activities for the benefit of the members
We have an active committee who organise two shows per year (Spring and Summer), regular meetings with a variety of talks, presentations, demonstrations and visits to gardens, and an annual Quiz & Social evening.
The Society is always on the lookout for speakers willing to deliver an appropriate talk for our members. If you are interested, or if you know someone who may be interested, please get in touch with us.
